We believe that empowering individuals and businesses to make informed financial decisions and achieve their financial goals is the cornerstone of sustainable individual and societal prosperity. That’s why financial literacy is deeply and long-term integrated into our business model. We go beyond traditional forms of educating our clients and broader communities, taking it to an entirely new level by fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving for the economic progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Through our "Bank in the Neighborhood" concept, we strive to be a good neighbor who recognizes the needs of local communities and responds where support is needed the most.
Financial literacy
Golden S for the Best Paper in Economics and Banking
The connection between the academic community and banking in the "Golden S for the Best Paper in Economics and Banking" project represents an initiative through which we aim to showcase a shift in our business model—from one primarily focused on providing basic financial services to a broader concept we call financial well-being. This project is implemented in collaboration with six leading economics faculties across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It signifies a much more active role for the bank in shaping an environment that fosters new value creation in our society, improves living standards, and contributes to economic prosperity. Zlatno S serves as a meeting point for science and industry—bringing together experts to discuss, analyze, and generate new insights and empirical findings that can strengthen and stabilize Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economy.
This is the only initiative of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina, bridging the academic and banking communities in a unique way. It encourages young researchers, scientists, and professionals to explore innovative solutions to economic challenges and maximize the country’s economic potential.
Sparkasse "Little School of Money"
We continue our efforts to develop financial literacy in primary schools, as we believe that financial education is crucial from an early age. This new initiative at the level of the commercial banking sector aims to promote financial literacy through the education system from the earliest stages.
We have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Una-Sana and Bosnian-Podrinje Cantons, as well as with the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education of the Sarajevo Canton. The program’s goal is to educate students on developing healthy financial habits and support the integration of financial literacy into the education system.
The program will help young people develop responsible financial habits, essential for their future and their ability to make smart financial decisions. The Ministry fully supports this initiative to ensure that financial education is systematically included in the school curriculum in the long term.
Sparkasse Bank continues its activities and collaboration with other Ministries of Education across Bosnia and Herzegovina to expand the program to more communities.
Social responsibility

𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝘂𝗻 ❞𝗭𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗻𝗶 𝗸𝗿𝘂𝗴❞ (The Golden Circle), organized by the Association Srce za djecu oboljelu od raka (Heart for Children with Cancer).
The run is held to raise funds for the association's work, which has established a unique concept of parental houses in Bosnia and Herzegovina for young heroes bravely fighting this illness.
As the main sponsor of the charity walk, we wanted to help gather meaningful support for this vulnerable group—one that deserves our full attention and care, as emphasized by our CEO.
We also supported the association through our SIMPL mobile app, which allowed users to donate funds not only to this cause but also to other organizations that enrich our communities.
Support for Vulnerable Populations
Curling by Sparkasse
We are committed to creating an inclusive society where every individual, regardless of their social status, can reach their full potential. Through various programs and initiatives, Sparkasse Bank actively supports the most vulnerable communities, believing that, through joint efforts, we can build a better future for all.
As part of the Sarajevo Olympic Week, we supported a curling activity that brought together members of the Association of Families of Children and Persons with Disabilities “Give Us a Chance.”
As a bank that believes in the power of sports and inclusion, we continue to invest in initiatives that create equal opportunities for all. Together, we are building a society where every individual can explore their potential, learn, and grow through new experiences that connect us.
Supporting Women Entrepreneurship
Our very own Emina Muharemović, Director of the Retail and Small Business Division, was one of the inspiring speakers at the “Women in Business” event organized by Poslovne novine.
Under the motto “We Are All Shining Stars,” Emina shared her vision of success with fellow women from the business world, drawing on decades of leadership experience in banking and the principles of NLP. She spoke about key factors for professional growth, the importance of continuous learning and adapting to change, and how mindset plays a crucial role in achieving business goals.
It was an inspiring gathering that highlighted just how valuable support, mentorship, and the exchange of experiences are in strengthening the role of women in the business world.
Sparkasse summer swimming camp
Under the patronage of Sparkasse Bank and organized by the Apex Club from Sarajevo, a swimming camp for children without parental care from the Bjelave Children's Home in Sarajevo was held last summer in Neum. During the seven-day camp, 50 boys and girls aged 8 to 12 had the opportunity to learn and improve their swimming techniques through play and social interaction.
The camp was designed to provide children with an unforgettable experience through daily swimming workshops led by certified coaches from the Apex Club. While some participants were learning their first strokes, the more experienced ones had the chance to refine their techniques. On the final day of the camp, their achievements were celebrated with a festive diploma ceremony, and the children left with a bundle of cherished memories from the Sparkasse Summer Camp.
This camp is part of Sparkasse Bank’s broader strategy to support local communities, with a special focus on children. Through initiatives like this, the bank not only helps develop sporting skills among youth but also offers them meaningful experiences and joyful moments that will stay with them for a lifetime.
